In response to recent discussions re available health services to lake residents, I have documented the present situation at the three health providers in the area.
They are the North Kawartha Health Center in Apsley, the Morton Community Healthcare Centre in Lakefield, the good doctors walk-in clinic in Havelock and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre in Peterborough.
North Kawartha Health Center (NKHC)
This center, which has been serving the community for years, has recently lost it’s nurse-practitioner. This occurred about the first of July of this year. Needless to say, this affects the number of patients the center can handle. The center has begun looking for a replacement nurse-practitioner to fill the void.
Morton Community Healthcare Centre (MCHC)
The MCHC has just introduced a new PFHT (Peterborough Family Health Team) clinic. (2018,9,11) This clinic will provide acute and episodic care to patients. Th clinic will accept walk in patients with an appointment. ( you may get an appointment the same day)
good doctors walk-in clinic
The good doctors walk-in clinic is located in the Guardian Pharmacy in Havelock.
Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC)
This facility’s emergency dept serves a large part of Central Ontario and is quite busy.
You have four options
- the North Kawartha Health Center in Apsley, you are advised to call ahead to confirm they can accept you as a patient (patients with appointments have priority).
- the good doctors walk-in clinic in Havelock
- the PFHT clinic at the Morton Health Centre in Lakefield
